It was a Saturday afternoon in the Summer of 1981. My Dad bought me a Nikon camera and a 50mm lens. Twenty seven year later and I still vividly recall loading and then developing that first roll of film (a favorite photo being of a “duck-crossing” sign I discovered at a nearby park). From that moment forward I began to “see” the world differently. Next came a darkroom, numerous photo workshops, and a passion for photography that continues to grow richer every day.
I’ve become a believer in the philosophy that “I don’t take pictures, they take me.” From the subtle shifts in light along the Pacific coast and valleys to the candid expressions of my children -- I hope to remain perpetually curious about the moments that surround me (and always have my camera within reaching distance).
On the personal front, I’m grateful for the support and encouragement of my family and friends. This includes my wife and three children (keeping me laughing and smiling every day). We make our home in Orange County, California.
